1975 blev Roger Ebert den första någonsin att vinna det prestigefyllda journalistikpriset Pulitzerpriset för kritik. 2005 blev han även den första kritiker att få sin stjärna på Hollywoods Wall of Fame.

2002 drabbades Roger Ebert av cancer som tvingade kirurger att operera bort hans underkäke, vilket gjorde att Ebert under sin sista tid blev av med talförmågan. Trots sina hinder fortsatte Ebert att ideligen skriva recensioner fram till dagen då han dog.

Roger Ebert är känd för att ha varit kontroversiell och ofta skiljde hans åsikter sig från allmänhetens. Detta vill vi lyfta fram genom att lista 8 klassiker Ebert sågade.

8. Die Hard (1988)

– On a technical level, there's a lot to be said for Die Hard. It's when we get to some of the unnecessary adornments of the script that the movie shoots itself in the foot.

– Follows the "Lock, Stock" formula so slavishly it could be like a new arrangement of the same song.
